Day-by-Day Route Breakdown

Day 1: Drymen → Aberfoyle

17.3 km / 10.7 mi · 311m↑ · 346m↓ ·

Leave the pretty village of Drymen and head north through the Garadhban Forest. The route climbs gently onto moorland with views across the Carse of Stirling before dropping into Aberfoyle, the gateway to the Trossachs.

Day 2: Aberfoyle → Strathyre

30.9 km / 19.2 mi · 683m↑ · 547m↓ ·

The longest day follows forest tracks past Loch Drunkie and Loch Venachar through the heart of the Trossachs. Pass the Falls of Leny before reaching the quiet village of Strathyre in Balquhidder Glen.

Day 3: Strathyre → Killin

21.2 km / 13.2 mi · 423m↑ · 451m↓ ·

Follow Glen Ogle on the old railway line — one of the finest sections of the entire trail. Cross the dramatic Glen Ogle viaduct and descend through the village to the Falls of Dochart at Killin.

Day 4: Killin → Ardeonaig Hotel

15.5 km / 9.6 mi · 570m↑ · 553m↓ ·

A shorter but hilly day along the south shore of Loch Tay. The route undulates through ancient oak woodland with stunning loch views and reaches the remote Ardeonaig Hotel.

Day 5: Ardeonaig Hotel → Aberfeldy

27.9 km / 17.3 mi · 738m↑ · 780m↓ ·

Continue along Loch Tay through Acharn — stop to see the Hermit's Cave waterfall — then follow the River Tay downstream into the handsome town of Aberfeldy with its famous Wade's Bridge.

Day 6: Aberfeldy → Pitlochry

15.3 km / 9.5 mi · 397m↑ · 401m↓ ·

The final stage crosses farmland and forestry tracks through Strathtay and over the ridge to Pitlochry. Finish at the Festival Theatre overlooking the River Tummel — a fitting end to the trail.
